Welcome to a new hiker’s retreat between Mount San Jacinto and Big Bear

Mount San Jacinto Hiker’s Haven is a 5 minute walk from the PCT in Whitewater, CA. From the Interstate 10 underpass, take a right on Tamarack Road (Mile 209.6) and look for the white house at the corner of Cottonwood Road. (Google Maps)

Welcome PCT Class of 2026!

  • BEFORE coming to the house, please text or call Kristin at 606-872-9964 to make a reservation, or use the contact form at the bottom of this page. Please send your name and PCT permit for reservation.

  • I will be periodically updating availability on FarOut.

  • Please wash your hands with soap by the front porch and take off your shoes before coming inside the house.

  • Grocery delivery to the house via Walmart Delivery and Instacart, and meals via DoorDash/Uber Eats. Remember to tip your driver. I am not providing rides, sorry!

  • LAUNDRY — All socks and other excessively dirty/sandy clothing items must be pre-washed in buckets outside with the hose at the front porch before placing in the washing machine. Hang dry clothing.

  • There are two cats with hair who now share the garage space.

Shared Room #1
Private Room

Rooms

  • Use your sleeping bag. Bottom sheet and pillow provided.

  • $80 Private Room (1 Queen Bed). Sleeps 1 or 2.

  • $40/person Shared Room (2 Twin Beds). There is a 3rd trundle bed available on request for groups of 3 all hiking together. Must be comfortable sharing a small space and leaving a backpack or two in the living room.

  • $40/person Bunk Bed shared Room (2 Twin Beds).

  • $20/person Garage. Room for about 6 sleeping pads. I provide pads and patio cushions for sleeping. There are now two cats with hair and claws that also share the garage. (Scroll below for photo)

  • Hot shower, kitchen, communal area, laundry, mailing services, coffee/fruit/snacks/frozen pizza meal, and free parking.

Resupply Services

  • USPS Flat Rate boxes available for outgoing shipping.

  • Receive resupply packages (USPS, UPS, FedEx):

    Package pickup is always available, even if I'm full or not able to host hikers that day. Just please let me know a day or two before you arrive to arrange pickup.
